Coach Tom is a Bay Area native with over 20 years of experience as both a player and a coach. He attended Wallenberg High School in San Francisco, where he was a multi-sport athlete, including basketball. While his playing time was limited, he consistently worked to improve his skills and deepen his understanding of the game—an experience that strongly shaped his approach to coaching.
After graduating, Coach Tom discovered a passion for coaching and immediately began pursuing opportunities to grow in the field. He started coaching at Legarza Basketball Camps before earning the opportunity to coach with a local AAU program, Bay City. There, he worked with high-level talent and competed against top competition, which helped him further develop his coaching abilities. This experience ultimately led to a coaching position at the high school level as the Freshman Head Coach at University High School.
Coach Tom believes that every player has the opportunity to be successful in the right coaching environment. While not every player may be a star, he emphasizes that every role on a team is essential to overall success. Player development is a core strength of Coach Tom’s coaching philosophy, and he structures his practices to ensure each athlete improves every day.
Coach Tom is currently an assistant coach at Clayton Valley Charter High School in Concord. He lives in the East Bay with his wife, Danica, and their two daughters, Jayla and Simea.
